Formosa Film Lab

A Formosa Film Lab, located in Faro, Portugal is a unique place that offers services for developing analogue photos and purchasing new films and, at the same time, passionately promotes analogue photography.

The name, Formosa Film Lab, was inspired by Ria Formosa, a natural park and lagoon in the Faro region, known for its frequent flamingo sightings. The initial logo featured a flamingo with a camera, becoming a recognizable part of the brand. The rebranding aimed to retain this iconic element in a simplified, modernized form.

The brand’s identity is rooted in simplicity, an easy and beautiful experience that appreciates the unexpected imperfections and carefully captured moments – the essence of analogue photography. Designed to resonate with artistic souls, travellers, and nature (also the human one!) enthusiasts, the brand communicates their passion for analogue photography, making them trustworthy when it comes to developing photos.

Formosa Film Lab’s new brand identity is characterized by simple, irregular or rounded shapes to convey friendliness and imperfection, two contrasting colors inspired by the nature of Ria Formosa, an old bookstyle font paired with a clean, minimalist one, and monoline, hand-drawn illustrations.
